Varun Chakravarthy on His Bowling Strategy: ‘Keep Attacking and Seek Wickets’ 

On January 22, India beat England in the first match of the five-match T20I clash. One of the main heroes of the game was spinner Varun Chakravarthy. The national team played against England at an arena, ‘Eden Gardens,’ which he knows well, as the cricketer also plays for KKR in the IPL.

In the first clash against England, Chakravarthy (3/23) was the top wicket-taker in his team. He was honored as ‘Player of the Match’ for his bowling performance. Commenting on this result, Varun revealed that his role in India is always to find wickets. This task remains the same even when he is under attack.

Chakravarthy emphasized that playing with England is not easy. It is a serious opponent, so concentration is necessary. According to Varun, the match was played on a small pitch, which made him a bit nervous before the game started. However, he decided he could succeed if he stuck to his process.

It is worth recalling that Chakravarthy returned to T20I and international cricket in 2024. Since then, he has taken 20 wickets in eight T20I matches at an average of 11.70. His best score is 5/17. The player’s impressive form allowed India to dominate England on January 22. Three Lions lost wickets at regular intervals, and only skipper Jos Buttler tried to keep the team afloat. He achieved figures of 68 off 44 balls, but it was not enough. India, on the other hand, has found other heroes besides Chakravarthy.
