Jos Buttler Questions Harshit Rana’s Concussion Substitute Role in India’s Series-Clinching T20I Victory

India won the fourth match of the T20I clash against England (181/9 vs 166) on Saturday. With this, the team won the series ahead of schedule, as the rivals had only one game left. They will also play three ODI matches later, but it will be a different series. England captain Jos Buttler was not entirely happy with the key episode of the fourth match. Shivam Dube suffered an injury and was substituted by Harshit Rana. Buttler felt that it was an unequal substitution.

Jos Buttler Criticizes India’s Concussion Substitute in the fourth T20I

Harshit Rana’s Impressive Game

As the game progressed, Shivam Dube was hit in the helmet and complained of concussion symptoms. The Indian team replaced him with debutant bowler Harshit Rana instead of the all-rounder. Rana came into the game well and scored three wickets, allowing his team to win by 15 runs.

Buttler Thinks England Missed Their Chances

Commenting on the episode for journalists, Jos Buttler said that this substitution cannot be called equal. The English team does not agree with it. According to the captain, chief referee Javagal Srinath approved the decision, and his team could not influence it. However, they want to ask the referee a few questions to clarify the situation.

That said, Buttler did not say England lost because of a questionable substitution in the Indian squad. According to him, the Three Lions had quite a few chances to win the match, but the team did not capitalize on them.

The fifth match will be held on February 2 in Mumbai. Like the upcoming three-match ODI series against Three Lions, this T20I series is essential in India’s preparation for the Champions Trophy. The team will play the first match on February 20 against Bangladesh.
